Interesting hairstyle at the river.

I remember many years ago, a colleague described Taiwan as the country of appalling hair styles. Surely one needs to get used to them as the young like them weird, big, and wonderful.

Students from Hsinchu spent an afternoon at the river, catching tadpoles and dipping occasionally in the water.

As is common in Taiwan they swam in underwear. But then, when you are young without an ounce of fat, you can wear what you want or less when swimming.

Long Jump Athlete revisited

A while ago I posted some pictures of a long jumper. Well, here are some more photos.

Before the jumps the athletes stretch their muscles.

Long jumping consists mostly of sitting around waiting your turn.

River fun with class mates.

The weather was getting chilly but when you have some classes off from university, the river is a good place to spend with friends. Young Taiwanese often have tattoos drawn at an early age which they have finished as money comes in.

The numerous typhoons bring floods which wash rocks downstream from the mountains and wash away the soil.

So what's better to do than looking for that perfect round stone to try and hop on the water surface. Especially when it's too cold to stay in the water for too long.

White Party

Some more pictures from the Speedo group preparing before the Taipei Pride 2009 - Love out Loud.

Front and back of a great-looking guy helping others looking their best.

And one of my favorite guys at Pride this year: Fundoshi Boy.

More countries should adopt this traditional Japanese attire as festival wear.

But don't let the skimpy outfit distract attention from the pretty face. This dude has it all.

Pride on camera

Being the biggest and outest Pride in Asia, international attention was on Taipei.

There's no question about it, white accentuates what you have.

Make-up has gone intergender for Pride. Is this for the masculine look that a faux shadow had to be painted on, or so that Mom doesn't recognize her bestest son?

Some more Pride 2009 pictures, here, here and here.

Love out Loud

If you have it, flaunt it. The tanned boys with tight buns and muscled chests were advertising what they've got in body-hugging swim wear.

This was the one day camaraderie could be shown publicly without fear of being ridiculed.

Fundoshi boy was popular with the spectators, showing a universal human trait being attracted to nudity. More pics from Pride here.

Relay in Jianshi

November is athletics month in Taiwan. All the schools have sports days and in the smaller communities it is a village day.

Jianshi was no exception and while the athletes got ready for the last event, the relay spectators were consuming large quantities of beer.

This aboriginal guy not only ran in the last event, but he also took the road home after the event on foot, running while his girl friend followed by scooter.
